Any creative process acts as a portal to the unconscious realms of psyche. We are all creative beings, whether we recognize ourselves as artists or not. When we engage in a creative process and enter the unconscious we find the meaning that helps us become more complete human beings.

In tending the symbols and figures that appear in our creative processes we invite an ongoing dialog with the unconscious. This dialog changes our relationship to psyche and to life. It bypasses the linear chattering mind and connects us with the creative right brain, from which fresh perspectives and insights emerge. Also, we gain wisdom from the archetypes, allies, and wisdom keepers who appear.

In my Creativity and Depth workshops participants create their own clay wisdom masks, clay wisdom figures, creativity journals with collage, and nature assemblages. Engaging in these creative experiences evokes our creative potential and unleashes the power of the unconscious. These Creativity and Depth workshops are for artists of all genres and for those individuals who are ready to explore their latent creativity!

“If we look closely, we see that our individuality consists in a special way that we combine the universal psychological patterns and energy systems that all human beings have in common. Jung called these patterns archetypes.”

Robert Johnson,
Inner Work

“The creative process, so far as we are able to follow it at all, consists in the unconscious activation of an archetypal image, and in elaborating and shaping this image into the finished work. By giving it shape, the artist translates it into the language of the present, and so makes it possible for us to find our way back to the deepest springs of life.”

C. G. Jung

“Our imagination is the most important faculty we possess. It can be our greatest resource or our most formidable adversary. It is through our imagination that we discern possibilities and options. Yet imagination is no mere blank slate on which we simply inscribe our will. Rather, imagination is the deepest voice of the soul and can be heard clearly only through cultivation and careful attention. A relationship with our imagination is a relationship with our deepest self.”

Pat Allen,
Art Is A Way of Knowing

“It is the artistic imagination, and not the willful mind, that effortlessly transforms the torturing demon into an inspirational daimon. As the images change, we change with them.”

Art As Medicine
